Lily's of the Field

Date: 11-21-95
Description: a benefit concert for orphan children in Bosnia-Herzegovina
Location: Irving Plaza, New York
Lineup: Annie Haslam, Ian MacDonald, Justin Hayward, Steve Howe and Gary Brooker
Quality:  B-
Format: 1 CD

Annie Haslam: Intro; Blessing in Disguise; Northern Lights
Ian MacDonald: Long, Long Way from Home; In the Court of the Crimson King
Justin Hayward:  Tuesday Afternoon; Your Wildest Dreams, Question, Nights in White Satin
Steve Howe: Second Initial; Masquerade; Ram; Valley of the Rocks; The Glory of Love; Clap
Annie Haslam and Steve Howe: Turn of the Century; Lily's in the Field
Gary Brooker: Conquistador; A Salty Dog
Comments: this gets a B- because the sound is a little distant and there are problem clicks between some tracks. I have tried to improve this disc with eq and editing with minor success. Still, I think this disc has a certain charm and there sure is plenty of Annie.

Comments: Movie description "If a person can be judged by the company he or she keeps, then Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly were obviously amazing. The two folk-rock legends made an indelible mark on rock music of the 20th century. On this fantastic release, some of their friends and fans (who are incidentally some of the greatest talents in the music business) come out in force to pay tribute. Through both interviews and performances with such stars as Bruce Springsteen (who does a killer "Vigilante Man"), Bob Dylan ("Song to Woody"), Arlo Guthrie ("Grand Coulee Dam"), Pete Seeger ("Alabama Bound") and more, the lives and music of these two legends are explored and celebrated."
